James Stanley is a solicitor with 30 years’ experience in commercial litigation in the energy sector.
After leaving private practice, he became a board member of a number of power and engineering businesses in the UK and North America. He worked for the Trafalgar House Group as Commercial Director of John Brown plc and then as General Counsel to the Global Engineering Division. He subsequently moved to Scottish Power plc as Group Legal and Commercial Director in 1996, where he was responsible for the conduct, management, control and delivery of all significant commercial transactions (including construction contracts, joint ventures, and mergers, acquisitions & divestments) together with the management of issues and disputes throughout the Group. He was also responsible for the provision of legal, commercial and associated services, and was Company Secretary from September 2005.
James was educated at Nottingham University and the College of Law in Chester.
